Creative Director (Jack of all trades), 2020 to present

This time has given me the opportunity to pursue clients, develop relationships and work on variety of creative projects. It has also been a period of rediscovery – to learn and explore artistic avenues and ideas.

SUCCESSES

G Adventures 2022 to 2025  brochures – A suite of four brochures across eight currencies were created, including a new standalone brochure for Geluxe – a premium active offering. The effort included Easycatalog integration, design, and production, pagination, print and project management.

Client and creative pursuits – Enjoyed working with some other great clients and cool projects: Prolific rebrand, Mandala Joe storefront, V&L rebrand, Heyday identity, and #36daysoftype.

G Adventures (Travel)
Associate Creative Director – Brochures & Print Collateral, 2011 to 2021

A company rich in entrepreneurial spirit, G Adventures allowed me to nurture existing skills, drive new initiatives and ideas, and develop platforms, while growing my creative, strategic, and managerial styles. 

SUCCESSES

Re-imagine brochures – We re-imagined both the visual and functional experience of the
brochure, along with supporting collateral, and distribution. Using research and data, coupled with instincts and experience, we developed a user-focussed journey, a contemporary design aligned with evolving brand standards, and used sustainable materials and processes.

Annual brochures – Leading a team of 4 production designers, I managed the end-to-end development of global printed and digital brochures in nine currencies and two languages. From planning and project management, pagination, creative direction, design, production, print and distribution, we produced over 27,000 pages in 2020.

G Adventures DAM – Developed and managed both an internal library for the creative team, and an external library on the Asset Bank platform. The effort supported the increasing needs of the business and its travel partners with scalable solutions, while providing consistent, approved assets that are easily accessible to all users worldwide.

Jelly Studios / Am Studios (Multiple verticals)

Lead Design and Production, 1989 to 2011

This period in my careeer made me the creative professional I am today. It’s where I learned to sweat over the details, think creatively in different ways, understand what it means to lead, to mentor and to share ideas in a collaborative environment. 

SUCCESSES

Drake International magazine – Re-launch of an international 48-page branded corporate magazine, Drake Business Review. The project required developing a unique editorial identity while maintaining a close relationship to existing corporate graphic standards. 

Clarks seasonal campaigns – Built upon Clarks brand guidelines and international imagery, these seasonal promotions featured print ads, in-store window banners, easel cards and ballot boxes. Tied into an employee incentive program to drive both sales and employee engagement.

Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration student drive – The Provincial Nominee Program encouraged international students to live and work in Ontario after studies. Featured posters and unique brochures in English and French.

JMT MetroSport (Gear and merchandise)

Production Artist, 1988 to1989

I started my career working in a sporting goods store that offered customized gear. My role included creative design, production, and make-ready plates for silkscreen printing on clothing, uniforms, merchandise, and internal sales collateral. 

SUCCESSES

Project Management – This introduction taught me a great deal about managing time and developing efficencies in design systems and process. During my time the store was able to increase capacity along with improved deadline management.
